PDD sees 250% increase in revenue generation since 2019-20 | KNO

KPDCL records increase by 176%, JPDCL with 73.58%

Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (PDD) has recorded nearly 250 percent increase in revenue generation in the past five financial years. Since 2019-20 till previous fiscal, PDD has collected Rs 16,974 Crore revenue from its consumers. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), from the total revenue generated, the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) sees 176 percent increase. The official figures further reveal that Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) 73.58 percent increase in revenue generation in past five financial years It reveals that JPDCL has collected Rs 8906.31 Crores since 2019-20 till previous fiscal year while KPDCL has collected Rs 8068 Crores. In the financial year 2019-20, JKPDD has collected Rs 1352.45 Crores from the Jammu DISCOM and Rs 947 Crores from KPDCL. The official figures further reveal that in the year 2020-21 Rs 1450.18 Crores through JPDCL and Rs 1182 Crores from KPDCL. Similarly, from the year 2021-22, PDD collects Rs 1696.27 Crores from Jammu DISCOM and Rs 1358 Crores from Kashmir DISCOM. In the year 2022-23, JPDCL collected Rs 2059.80 Crores and Rs 1967 Crores from KPDCL respectively. In the previous fiscal, the official figures reveal that the KPDCL has recorded a surge in revenue generation by 176 percent in comparison to the year 2019-20 and JPDCL with 73.58 percent respectively. In the year 2023-24, JPDCL has collected Rs 2347.61 Crores and KPDCL with Rs 2614 Crores. Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department is reeling under high Aggregate Technical and Commercial Losses (AT&C) with the recent figures suggesting the loss of more than 41 percent till the financial year 2023-24. Among the both DISCOMs, Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) is facing extra 21 percent AT&C in compared to the Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL)—(KNO)
